NOKERO N200 BULBS

while kerosene lamps are a fact of life in India and the good old bulb fails to die ,an intersting invention in the Wes connects our lighting choices with causes of energy supply and the environment. Denver and Hong Kong based Nokero ,a word coming from "no kerosene" has launched a Solar light bulb ,Nokero N200 that lasts six (or)more hours on one day's charge and is affordable to billions of people without relaible access to electricity.

Boasting 60% greater brightness the N200 features one solar cell ,four LED's, a frosted globe and uses solarenergy. the bulb automaticallty turns off in brightlight to save energy.

Already being used in Pakistan and Kenya, N200will soon arrive in Iraq, where it will help people in the War-torn country avoid the high cost of running diesel generators for light at night. Thr company is hopeful of providing bulbs at a lower price in India..

No one's going to be calling Nokero out for falling behind. Just a few short months after revealing its first commercial light bulb for developing nations, the outfit has now rolled out a second version, the predictably titled N200. This guy strikes a vastly different pose compared to the original, with the LED enclosure hanging on a swivel that enables it to be positioned in a way that would optimally catch light. When night falls, users can flip the light north to create a lantern. Nokero claims that this edition is just as rugged and rainproof as the original, but it's 60 percent brighter and lasts three times as long. A single NiMH battery is included, and that's what is rejuvenated by the sun -- once charged, it'll provide between 2.5 and 6 hours of light, depending on the mode. It's on sale now for $20 apiece (bulk prices are less), representing a modest $5 premium over the (still available) N100. Can't say the Yankees will be looking to decorate their outdoor patio with lighting right about now, but for the nomads trekking to Panama to escape Old Man Winter... well, you know what to do. Vid's after the break.

The N200 features a multi-switch which can be set to hi (“Turbo-Task”), low, or off. On its low setting the bulb can last six or more hours on one day’s charge and is the same brightness as the N100.

The N200 has a convenient “pivot” feature, allowing users to swivel the solar panel toward the sun to maximize charge capability. The bulb can also be swiveled at night to point light in a needed direction. The bulb can be hung or laid on its side.
